People who get creative and think outside the box can transform a boring kitchen, a drab bathroom, or even a dreary basement into cozy, beautiful spaces.
We offer you 13 examples of renovations with before and after photos. Perhaps after viewing this post you will finally decide to make a change.
A creepy, claustrophobic, lair-like office has been transformed into a neat home office where you can really focus on your work. See how storage space makes a difference! It took just eight days to complete the project.
A very old-fashioned kitchen has been successfully painted, and now there is a completely different mood here. The retro style was preserved, but it became much more fun. The upgrade cost only $250. Chalk paint was used to paint the vintage cabinets, and the floor was covered with a boldly patterned rug.
We added minimalism and cute cabinets to the laundry room. Two meter-long IKEA cabinets hide all the unpresentable bottles and cans of household chemicals. The wall is lined with polished and stained cedar planks. The transformation cost only $350.
An empty room in the basement turned into a real forest hunter's hut. Yes, this is the same room. It only took $107 to make this transformation, thanks to old wooden boxes and rocks dug up from the side of the road. The artificial window (which looks like a real one, right?) was made by hanging a photograph here, stepping back a few centimeters from the wall and lighting it from behind.
The dull bedroom looked like a photo from a Crate & Barrel catalog. Just rearranging the bed gives the bedroom a whole new atmosphere. The details added to the wall and the mirror are simple changes that turn out to make a big difference.
A terribly boring bathroom turned into a really cool one. This transformation is like a breath of fresh air. After enlarging the window, removing the blinds and installing beautiful tiles on the floor, it became much better.
A gloomy kitchen with sticky drawers has been transformed into a much more pleasant and aesthetically pleasing place to prepare and eat meals. It took two people three weekends to complete this project. The kitchen felt more spacious, the cabinets were painted white, and the old sink was sold at a garage sale for $50. All the wood from the dismantled cabinets was reused.
A very simple bathroom has been transformed into a designer creation with two sinks. Instead of a sit-down shower, there is now a bathtub with beautiful tiles. The furniture was replaced with more compact ones, and the large sink was turned into a double one.
The unfinished attic has turned into a terribly cozy corner. Wooden boards on the ceiling turned out to be a very good solution.
A dark and old-fashioned bathroom with felt wallpaper has become light and modern. It's really the same bathroom. The owners did most of the work themselves, seeking help only from a plumber for laying pipes and another specialist for installation. The design was developed using a computer program using video tutorials on YouTube. The wooden planks on the walls are old pallets that were purchased on Craigslist for a dollar apiece.
An ordinary staircase has become much more pleasant to look at. Scrap metal was used for the railings, and bamboo inserts on the steps made the staircase design more modern. Holes under the base of the stairs are an ideal place to stash shoes.
The home office has turned into an incredibly stylish workspace. The owners repainted the old table to make it brighter and match the new room design, covered the wall with gray panels to add a pop of color, and used an $18 basket as a light fixture.
Oddly placed dressing rooms have been transformed into convenient storage and changing spaces with sliding doors. The cabinet in the middle was left open and a hanger was added later. The entire project cost $250.
