In this case, the so-called controlled demolition method is often used, in which the structure is demolished in one stage with the help of explosives. The main feature of this type of demolition is that the building collapses inward after the explosion, which makes it possible to destroy almost any building, even in conditions of close urban development.
If you have ever witnessed the demolition of buildings using this method, you must have been impressed by how simple the process seems to be. In reality, things are much more complicated, and the art of demolition is almost as difficult as the art of erecting buildings.
We prepared 10 "controlled" explosions, the mistakes in which in some cases led to comical, and in others to tragic results. Fortunately, no one was hurt during these events.

2. Tower storage, Australia
This ancient tower vault, located in Redbank, Australia, refused to go down without a fight. 115 kg of explosives only knocked down the building, after which it depicted the Leaning Tower of Pisa for about 40 minutes, after which the excavators managed to weaken the support and complete what had been started.
3. 16-storey building, Russia
The demolition workers who worked on this unfinished residential building in Sevastopol were especially distinguished. When the specialists failed to demolish the 16-story building the first time, they referred to the fact that they were prevented from planting more explosives by the residential buildings located around. Ultimately, the building was only demolished on the third attempt.

When it came time to demolish this structure in Liuzhou to make room for residential buildings, the demolition specialists came up with the following plan: to blast the building into two parts, which then had to fall to the ground. With one half, the plan worked perfectly, while the other stubbornly continued to stand in its place. Later, it was dismantled in the old fashioned way - with cranes and bulldozers.
9. Mad River Power Plant, USA
